1. Not legal advice

Everything on PetitionLens (decisions, objection explanations, “what has tended to answer it” notes, statistics, charts, and any assessments or drafts) is general information for research. It is not legal advice and is not tailored to your circumstances. Using PetitionLens does not make us your lawyer or representative, and creates no attorney-client relationship.

2. Not a government service

PetitionLens is an independent, private product. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or acting for U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of State, the Department of Justice, or any government. We use agency names only to describe the public sources we cite. We do not use government seals or logos. Official forms, fees, filing, and case status are available only at uscis.gov.

3. Limits of the data

• Denied-case sample. Every appeal here reached the Administrative Appeals Office because USCIS had already denied it. Approved petitions are never published this way. Rates and counts describe these appeals, not approval odds.
• Non-precedent decisions. AAO non-precedent decisions apply only to the parties in each case. They are not binding law and may not reflect current policy.
• Point in time. Policy Manual quotes are from the edition current as of Sept 23, 2026. Law and policy change; always check the current text on uscis.gov.
• Automated processing. Decision text comes from OCR of official PDFs and can contain errors; the official PDF controls. Objection tags and statistics come from automated pattern matching and can be wrong or missing. Each tag shows the sentence it came from so you can check it.
• Automated checks and drafts. Evidence-coverage checks, document reviews and drafts are produced automatically from rules and templates. They can be wrong or incomplete and must be reviewed by you and a qualified professional before use.

4. No guarantee of outcome

Every petition is decided by an officer on its own record. No score, pattern, tag or draft from PetitionLens predicts or guarantees approval, and none should be read that way.

5. Where to get legal help

• A licensed immigration attorney in good standing with a U.S. state bar.
• A Department of Justice accredited representative working for a recognized organization (see the EOIR roster).
• Watch for immigration scams and “notarios”. See USCIS’s Avoid Scams guidance.

6. UK immigration

PetitionLens is about U.S. immigration petitions. Anything we publish about UK immigration is general information only. In the UK, giving immigration advice or services to a particular person is a criminal offence unless the provider is qualified to do so, for example registered with the Immigration Advice Authority (formerly the OISC) or a regulated solicitor or barrister (Immigration and Asylum Act 1999, sections 84 and 91).
